Look from more than one angle
Consider the trunk and visible root base, the direction of the main branches, and how the canopy fills the space. The tree pictured beside a glazed building shows one possible form; ask to see the individual tree you are considering.
Check the growing position
Choose a sunny position with soil that drains well, and avoid a site that remains saturated. Check the site’s light, drainage and rainfall, then ask how the particular tree has been grown and what transition care it may require.
